This carefully planned medicalzone will be the result of a dynamicmix of components including at itsheart, the International Hospital Zoneand Medical School Campus, and aMedical Manufacturing District withassociated Research and DevelopmentFacilities. 13、ental and social benefits.6? ? ? ? ?7PlanningPlanning P PrecedentsrecedentsDuring the planning and research stagesfor the Medical Zone it has become clearthat although there are indeed manyspecific and idealized precedents orexamples related to components of theproposed programming for the site, the
14、reis no development to date which actuallyprovides a true precedent for theShanghai International Medical Zone. Illustrations of other international classmedical campuses are included in theappendix and can bring understanding tothe master plan development and inparticular, the internationalprogramm
15、ing. However, most of thesecampuses are accommodated inrelatively dense urban centers and haveexpanded over long periods of timewithin these constrained contexts. TheShanghai International Medical Zone hasthe unique opportunity to strategicallyutilize a greenfield environment.Just as the Recruit Doc

17、 ContextontextThe Shanghai International Medical Zoneis an 11.51 square kilometer propertylocated approximately 20 km southeast ofthe Bund. The existing primary land useis farmland.The property sits within the NanhuiDistrict of Shanghai. It is 2 km south ofan entrance to Shanghais outer looproad. No
18、rmal driving time during rushhour to the City Center is approximately30-40 minutes. The site is also 19 kmwestsouth of the Pudong InternationalAirport and 36 km northwest of the newLuchao Port.The proposed adjacent land uses include:science and technology developmentzones to the north; a site reserv
19、ed for atheme park to the east, the Huinan NewTown Development to the west, andfinally; the Luchao New Town to thesoutheast. The general Nanhui Districtplanning guidelines state that planningconcepts should reflect man inharmonious co-existence with nature.The guidelines call for an increase inwoode
20、d area, green corridors createdby landscaped edges for roads andwaterways, and green boundaries aroundmajor developments.RegionalRegional A AccessccessRoute 5 runs in a north-south directionalong the western edge of the project siteand represents the major regionalhighway connecting the site to the
21、rest ofShanghai. It has grade-separatedinterchanges with two east-west arterials:Zhoudeng Road in the northern edge ofthe property, and Shenzhu Road on thesouthern edge. Between these twoarterial is Zhouzhu Road, which traversesthe project site through the center andwhich provides east-west access f
22、orvehicles throughout the surrounding area.It has been specified that the trafficgenerated from within the site shall notaffect the low of Zhouzhu Road. Themajor access points to the project site arealong these three arterials. Secondaryaccess points are along Chuangye Roadrunning north-south throug
23、h the center ofthe site and Shen Jiang Road South alongthe easterly edge. It is expected thatmany of the employees on the site willarrive via the mass train system. Stationsare located proximately 1 km both eastand west of the site.The property is flat and since it is part ofthe Yangtze River delta,
24、 is about 4 metersabove sea level. Therefore, the site has ahigh water table and poor geotechnicalconditions. There are few trees on thesite, but it is fertile and can support a richlandscape environment.There are four major canals that traversethe site in roughly an east-west direction.These canals
25、 are to be preserved.There is also one historic enclave whichincludes the Su Mansion - that is to bepreserved. It is assumed that all otherexisting structures will be demolished.UtilityUtility I InfrastructurenfrastructureIt is assumed that all of the major utilities(water, sewer, power, gas, etc.)
